2 New Coffees
We just added 2 new direct trade coffees to our online store. Colombia Finca La Florida Manuel Antonio Ovies and Peru Cenfrocafe. Both roast and ship for the first time Monday. Get your order in before the weekend is over and be one of the first to taste Oliver’s 2 new direct trade selections.

Colombia Finca La Florida Manuel Antonio Ovies
Manuel Antonio Ovies lives and farms with his wife and four children in Cauca Colombia. Finca La Florida is a 3 hectare farm with over 13,000 Caturra coffee trees mixed in a shade canopy with yucca, plantains, and sugar cane. He owns and operates his own beneficio (wet mill) at the farm, where he depulps, ferments and washes his coffee. After the beans are processed they are sun-dried in a parabolic drier which allows for better air flow and therefore more homogenous drying of the beans. This lot was selected from samples sent each week directly from Colombia. We classified this coffee as an 86+ score. As a result, Manuel Antonio Ovies receives a premium on top of our standard payment at sustainable, direct trade pricing.
Dense fig aromas highlight scents of dark chocolate as an intro to flavors of caramel, cranberry, and sweet winter squash offset by a Riesling like acidity.

Peru Cenfrocafe
Our first purchase from the amazing organization called Cenfrocafe. The Cenfrocafe concept revolves around a transparency contract, which is the notion that everyone in the supply chain should be represented and the details of their involvement written down. This system identifies and accounts for every penny of the final cost, including and most importantly, the price paid directly to the producer. This concept of line item all the way down to the producer is extremely rare. “Fair Trade Certified” does not make this guarantee, as it only insures a minimum price paid to the cooperative not to the farmers themselves. Our producing group is made up of 17 families in the Cajamarca region near the border with Ecuador at extremely high elevations hovering around 1,800 meters above sea level. We are very excited about this coffee, and about our partnership with Cenfrocafe.
Sweet, citric and nutty with a unique wine-like acidity and distinct caramel and tropical fruit flavor
