Jorge Alberto Vallecillos and his family farm El Aquacatal in El Comun, La Paz, Honduras. At 7 hectares, El Aquacatal sits in the Cordillera de Montecillos mountains, surrounded by sweetgum and pine trees. Winning 7th place in the Cup of Excellence comes with great effort and attention to farming practices: the Vallecillos family and staff select only the reddest coffee cherries and within six hours of picking, the cherries are taken to a wet mill to be de-pulped and fermented in pristine spring water for 24 hours. For the last three years El Aquacatal has been ranked within the top twenty at the Cup of Excellence. We are honored to win the bid for this gorgeous coffee, the highest scoring lot to come to North America.
