New Coffee & Espresso Additions
We have some new coffee and espresso selections to make a quick mention of.
Among the new releases is our batch of Bolivia Café Golondrina, this past season’s Cup of Excellence #19. We are also releasing two single origin espressos that until now have only been available to our wholesale accounts. We thought you all might enjoy them too, so they are available in 1 pound bags just for the espresso crowd. These single origin espressos should be a monthly thing from here on out, so stay tuned.

Bolivia Café Golondrina ~ Cup of Excellence #19
Café Golondrina is a special coffee farm. In fact, we think it is one of the very best coffee farms in the world. Cupping this coffee blind as a jury member at the 2009 Cup of Excellence, it proved to be one of our favorites. As the lots were revealed we were stunned that a coffee we bought in the 2008 Cup of Excellence was once again in our top favorites.
The farm Café Golondrina is owned by Celso David Mayta Quispe who grows Caturra and Typica on his 4 hectare plot. All the cherries are harvested by hand, by himself and his family. Only the ripest cherries are selected, which is one of the factors Celso expressed as the biggest advantage of his process at our meeting in Caranavi last October. Celso is quiet and reserved but became passionate when speaking about the Cup of Excellence program. “Bolivian coffee is the best in the world,” he said, “The people of Olympia have the opportunity to taste my coffee [thanks to] the Cup of Excellence program. We need USAID to keep supporting the Cup of Excellence program in the future; this program helps the people of Bolivia”.

Bolivia Copacabana Estate MicroLot 12oz
Copacabana Estate is a model coffee farm owned by the husband and wife team of Jaime and Maria Azcarrunz. Located 52 km outside of Caranavi in the Condoriri Mountains, the farm is flanked by rivers and waterfalls at an elevation of 1,400 to 1,600 meters. The Azcarrunz family has their own ecological low water wet mill located at the farm, and all of our micro lot was sun dried on raised African drying beds. Together with our consultant Tim O’Brien we worked with the Azcarrunz family to separate out the best selections from the farm and cup them. We discovered two parcels with outstanding cup quality, one of which (we think the best selection ) is all for Olympia Coffee Roasting Co.
Bolivia Copacabana Estate MicroLot Single Origin Espresso 1lbs/16oz
At Olympia Coffee Roasting Co we tend to enjoy the profile that Bolivian coffee brings to the demitasse in an espresso. And what is not to like about a espresso so sweet and full bodied? Copacabana Estate is a beautiful single origin espresso; dense, and sweet with elegant florals and creamy chocolate. So drinkable it’s a little dangerous.
Extremely sweet and lush, with flavors of jasmine, caramel, grape, toffee and stone fruits in a velvety body.

Peru Cenfrocafe Single Origin Espresso 1lbs/16oz
This collection of 17 small scale farmers who encompass the 50 bag lot that we purchased produce some of the very best Peruvian coffee we have ever tasted. We have been using this coffee in our Big Truck Espresso Blend for over two months now and love what it does in the blend. Look for flavors of caramel, vibrant plum and spice in the finish. The body is such a treat, fluffy and airy on the tongue–an extremely rare sensation in coffee.
Sweet, citric and nutty with a unique wine-like acidity and distinct caramel and tropical fruit flavors.
