Peru Origin Trip 2010 Day 5
Day 5 is unfortunately about leaving the coffee growing region of Cusco. We are racing against the clock to be in the city of Cusco before midnight when the road strike begins. While it will be nice to see the city of Cusco and have a few hours to be a tourist it’s still deeply disappointing.While I feel the sourcing of these coffees is already underway, with impressive quality lots being put aside for us at Olympia Coffee Roasting Co. Peru Origin Trip 2010 Day 4
Rumors of a regional road strike is pushing us out of the coffee growing region two day early. We have an early morning meeting to discuss the situation. If we stay the roads will become in passable with boulders and down trees to disrupt traffic flow. The road strike has something to do with not receiving the fiscal benefits of the raw crude oil being extracted in the region. The goals of the people of ... more after the jump
