About the position:

The perfect candidate excels in learning, then honing the craft of roasting coffee at Olympia Coffee Roasting Co. S/he possesses an uncompromising passion for coffee and has a strong work ethic.

 

Roasting is one the most important aspects of our company. The right candidate will be passionate about coffee, have acute senses, be extremely detail oriented, and be a solid cupper. As a roaster for Olympia Coffee Roasting, you must be able to concentrate under pressure with the possibility of many distractions. You must be able to precisely follow roast profiles set up by the Roast Master. You must be able to perform simple math quickly. Every batch of coffee is cupped daily and basic cupping skills are desired.

Other aspects of the position include wholesale account management, processing wholesale account orders, weekly cleaning and maintenance of the roasting equipment and facility, and inventory management, which includes receiving green coffee pallets and staging green coffee for the roasting schedule. The ability to co-lift 152 lbs is essential to this position.

The Production Roaster works as part of a team in tandem with the Roast Master and Production Specialist. Each position supports the others and is expected to cover in case of absences.

This is an hourly position, based on a 3 day/27-hour average work week that is subject to weekly or seasonal increase.
