Mukuyuni

Flavors of ripe melon, cherry tomato, and honey
On our last morning in Nairobi we popped into the cupping lab of Dorman’s Coffee Exporters on our way out of the city to visit producers up-country. We had a quick cupping of some lots from a producer cooperative that we wanted to taste one more time before we visited them later that day, and then we tasted coffees that were going over to the Kenyan Coffee auction later that week. While this wasn’t our table of coffees, and we weren’t really looking for an auction lot, we went through and tasted the upcoming offerings anyway. Well, this is where we discovered this lot of Mukuyuni. This lot is "Micro Lot 5" which represents about 4 days of coffee harvested at the Mukuyuni Factory of Mukuyuni Cooperative and it's an AB grade, meaning the beans are sorted with a 15 mm screen size, the 2nd largest size in Kenya. We fell in love with this coffee immediately, and asked Dorman’s to bid for this lot on our behalf. We are really excited to showcase this show stopper with you this year, one we happily found through chance that morning in Nairobi.
