Flavors of lemon, blackberry, and cream
Ayele Bedecha is our very first single-farmer coffee from Ethiopia, where coffee from individual producers is traditionally combined and sold by a cooperative. This rare lot is the result of a quality-focused, direct trade program we've had with Bedecha's cooperative, the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU). This year, YCFCU is undertaking a handful of single-producer micro lots and we were lucky enough to secure this great example. The cherries from Bedecha's home and farm in the village of Wenango—near Yirgacheffe in the Gedeb zone of southern Ethiopia—are delivered to Addis Katema Cooperative Washing Station for processing, washing, fermentation, and drying. Every step along the way, from farm through export and roasting, is conducted under strict organic certification guidelines.
