Yineth Cuchumbe Micro Lot
Flavors of honey, gingerbread, and candied citrus
Yineth Cuchumbe is a producer from Inza, Colombia, who we had the amazing opportunity to discover through our Las Mingas Project. Las Mingas is our program with our exporters at Caravela for securing the best quality coffee and rewarding producers with life changing prices in the communities of Inza and San Sebastian. Yineth's coffee was a true stand-out this year from our Inza selections. Yineth grows the rare varietal called Maragogipe. This lot from Yineth marks Olympia’s first ever purchase of this varietal. Maragogipe was discovered in Brazil in the middle of the last century, and is known to be the largest coffee bean varietal in the world. We have long been a fan of the Maragogipe hybrids, like Pacamara and Maracaturra, but it’s a treat to finally purchase their pure heirloom parent variety, the Maragogipe. Yineth Cuchumbe planted Maragogipe about five years ago as a test at her 5 hectare farm at 1,900 meters. She uses a small manual pulper to begin her washed process, she ferments the coffee for around 24 hours, and she washes the coffee post-fermentation, twice. Yineth Cuchumbe's coffee is outstanding and rare in Inza, making this lot one of our favorite surprises of the season.
