B Corp

Olympia Coffee is now a Certified B Corporation®.
We spent the entirety of the last year going through a rigorous audit of policy and operations that has ultimately helped us improve the company.

What is a B Corporation?

B Corporations are leaders of the global movement of people using business as a force for good. There are over 2,200 Certified B Corporations from more than 130 industries in 50+ countries with 1 unifying goal – to redefine success in business. B Corps are important because they inspire all businesses to compete not only to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world. Certified B Corporations meet higher standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

I’ve often said that the reason I own a business today is because I wanted to work at a company that put farmers and staff into a position of equity. I wanted to do more than just benefit the shareholders which is what I experienced working at other companies. While I promise to keep improving Olympia Coffee, I am proud that we are now a Certified B Corporation®.

Why B Corps Are Special

The performance standards required of B Corps are comprehensive, transparent, and verified. They measure a company’s impact on all its stakeholders such as workers, suppliers, community, customers, and the environment. Unlike traditional corporations, Certified B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their stakeholders, not only their shareholders.

We Do What We Say

At it’s core, this is a certification of our mission statement: We exist to improve the quality of life for coffee farmers, for our staff and for our customers. The B Certification verifies that we actually do what we say we do!

This new certification helps Olympia Coffee fulfill our mission to improve quality of life for coffee farmers, staff and customers by verifying our Fair For All sourcing standards, environmental and community impact, and employment practices.

Our other visible impacts have made with our Fair For All sourcing, company wide energy and waste reduction, and providing 80% or more coverage of benefit premiums for employees.

We are incredibly proud to have achieved this certification and look forward to continuing to strive to be the best company we can. What started as just an idea or suggestion from one of our interns at the time, grew to be a fixation that required so much work over the last year.

I want to thank the team that helped us achieve this certification and thank all of our staff, your belief in our mission allows Olympia Coffee to be a force for good that benefits the world through our coffee.
